Vassiliki was born in Athens, Greece and has lived in Portland,
Oregon for the last eight years. She is working as a therapist,
educator and group facilitator. She has a Diploma and an M.A.
in Process Oriented Psychology and is completing her M.A. in
Conflict Resolution at Portland State University where she also
graduated with a B.A. in International Studies. Before coming
to Portland, Vassiliki trained in Systems Theory and Family and
Group Dynamics in the Athenian Institute of Anthropos in Athens,
where she has been an associate for several years. She is an
activist interested in issues of democracy and diversity.
Her main interest is in group work and conflict resolution,
and the interconnections between politics, indigenous wisdom
and creativity. Also, after experiencing deep altered states
herself, due to body symptoms, she is interested in how these
states can help someone to connect with nature, meaning in life
and personal path.
Currently, she is completing a documentary on how Turkish Cypriot
and Greek Cypriot women handle conflict in Cyprus. She also has
a private practice, works with people in extreme states who live
in shelters and teaches conflict resolution in diverse settings.
She feels at home with various indigenous cultures, which help
her to connect more with the earth, a sense of community, her
passion and the dreaming. She is currently planning to work in
Mexico with indigenous women's organizations on issues of empowerment
and trauma recovery.
