MISSION
Process Work Institute is dedicated to being a learning community of excellence, promoting research, training, and development in Process Work. It aims to provide cutting edge knowledge in Process Work and its applications to learners through both distance and onsite learning methods, and to inspire and promote personal transformation and greater social awareness.
VISION
To become a beacon of research, education, and personal development through the application of Process Work worldwide.
VALUES
Process Work is committed to eliciting the core of potential meaning and growth that lies at the heart of even the most disturbing human experience. Process Work's essential values include awareness, learning, relationship, and a continued commitment to personal growth.
The Process Work learning community is committed to an educational process that:
- Views the individual and his or her unique personal style as an integral part of the learning process
- Fosters an atmosphere of collaboration, experimentation, and mutual discovery in learner-teacher interaction
- Provides intensive and experiential instruction using onsite, distance and online learning modes of delivery that strengthens student learning
- Connects the student's skill development to his or her own personal process and unique style
- Emphasizes the role of community and relationship in the learning process
- Promotes dialogue, inclusion, and intercultural competence.
GOALS
Consistent with our Mission, Vision, and Values, PWI has developed a 5-year plan, placing priority on the following areas: infrastructure; professionalization; enrollment; internships and outreach; publications and learning resources (Refer to Exhibit 8: Plans for Institutional Development Table).
To fulfill its mission, PWI has the following goals:
- To educate innovative, effective, and culturally competent facilitators and practitioners in the areas of human and organizational growth using the methods of Process-oriented Psychology
- Advance knowledge of Process-oriented Psychology through training, collaboration, and research
- To develop distance learning methods that allow us to serve an international student body
- To promote community, diversity, and social and personal well-being through the community building tools of Process-oriented Psychology.
OBJECTIVES
To help us meet our goals, we have the following specific objectives:
1. To educate innovative, effective, and culturally competent facilitators and practitioners in the areas of human and organizational growth using the methods of Process-oriented Psychology
a. Recruit and retain outstanding faculty in the range of applications and specialties of Process-oriented Psychology
b. To provide internship support to facilitate local, national, and international internship opportunities and leverage our connection with local agencies and international sister schools and practitioners which afford global perspectives and provide a rich opportunity for intercultural learning and experience, increased research opportunities, and greater collaboration with students and faculty from other schools and regions
c. To recruit students of the highest academic capabilities who are committed to their professional and personal development, while increasing regular enrollment to enroll a new cohort in each program every 12-18 months, operating five active cohorts simultaneously by 2014, without sacrificing our exceptional student-teacher ratios
d. To expand our infrastructure to include new classrooms, meeting spaces, clinic rooms, and library to offer better resources to students and also provide for multiple cohorts on campus at the same time.
e. To continue to improve and develop distance learning technologies to serve our international student body
f. To provide for the professionalization of our programs and creating opportunities for licensure for graduates of our programs by seeking accreditation and through partnering with other institutions
2. Advance knowledge of Process-oriented Psychology through training, collaboration, and research
a. Build community alliances and partnerships through internships, the Summer Institute, and co-sponsoring events and conferences on topics of interest to local and international professionals and practitioners
b. Expand our library resources and research opportunities, offering a gateway to electronic resources and education, including professional databases in the field of psychology, health and wellness, conflict resolution, and organizational development
c. To develop partnerships with other agencies, schools, and institutions - to carry out research on issues related to our vision and mission
3. To promote community, diversity, and social and personal well-being through the community building tools of Process-oriented Psychology
a. To co-sponsor and promote public open forums on social issues, fostering awareness of issues within the local community, and offering PWI as a source for socially aware and sensitive community facilitators
b. To develop and implement a diversity and inclusion initiative to make our student body and faculty reflect the diversity of the culture at large, and to integrate diversity into all of the Institute's core activities
4. To create an administration of the highest order, create sound administrative functions, procedures, and support to ensure students get optimum ongoing care for their learning
a. To develop and maintain website so it reflects the latest information and resources for students
b. To develop blended learning technologies and platforms that allow us to deliver the highest quality training
c. To provide for technological support and training for students and faculties in the use of distance learning technologies
d. To provide exceptional support for students when they are on campus during their residential stays.
