Advocacy and Elder Care

Stan Tomandl, MPW, PW Dipl, assisted by Ann Jacob, B.Ed.

Dealing with how elders and others in palliative care situations are affected by isolation, administrative policies, off label drugs, overworked caregivers and frustrated family members. How we can stay in contact with and advocate for  loved ones and clients, including from a distance. How to navigate administrators, care conferences, family issues, relationships with care aids, your own interactions with patients and much more. We will strengthen your metaskills (overarching feeling attitudes), help assess care plans and brainstorm how process -oriented palliative care can fit into fee for service medicine in nursing homes, home care and hospices.
