Addiction and Clowning

Saturday-Sunday; 3/4 & 3/5; 10am – 1pm + 3-6pm both days

Instructor(s): Emetchi and Venetia Bouronikou, PW Diplomates

In this workshop we shall introduce the Clown which each one of us holds inside, as a way to explore addictions. For us the Clown holds the creative space from which our own unique interventions and metaskills arise. Working with addictions and addictive tendencies, be they substances or behaviors, can often be very vexing. Picking up the message embedded inside the addiction rather than staying in allegiance with the messenger [the substance or behavior] is the heart of the work. This can be a relatively smooth process or a repetitive mythical wrestling match. Every one of us has addictive tendencies or addictions so yours is warmly welcome.

In this workshop you will leave with  [1] a clear understanding of the Processwork approach to working with addiction; [2] a fresh relationship with your inner Clown and knowing how to access her/him/it at will  [3] Experience of different fun ways to use your clown to craft interventions when working with addictive processes [4]  Practice of building your metaskill repetoire using the creativity of your Clown.

Please wear loose clothing and come expecting a mix of short succinct theory points, specific skill enhancing experiential exercises both solo with another and in a small group, plenty of play and movement as well as open space for the Tao of the moment….

This workshop is suitable for any person who wants to understand the Process Work approach to Addiction; for any Processworker wanting to diversify her, his or their interventions and muscle up metaskills using the creativity of your own Clown; for any individual regardless of whether you are a Processworker or not, who wants to try a new way to engage with somebody stuck in an addictive loop. We value all levels of both PW experience and life experience and will craft our workshop accordingly.
