Specialized Certificate in Process Work Approaches to Somatic Psychology & SBGI Collaboration

Somatic Psychology Certificate

The certificate program gives participants a foundation in Process Work methods that apply and relate to embodied experiences and the larger medical or somatic field. It is for all students and professionals who are interested in learning Process Work as an extension of their studies in somatic psychology, social work, counseling, body work, movement therapy, allopathic, naturopathic, or oriental medicine, or who want to increase their professional experience in their respective fields.

Participants will become acquainted with basic theories and skills that facilitate the dreaming experience as it manifests in the body whether it be in body feelings or symptoms, movement, sounds, moods and altered states, relationships or even in language pointing to body experience. Topics include philosophical grounding in models of experience such as Taoism, indigenous and shamanic cultures, and quantum mechanics; co-creative healing as an integrative theory of inter-relatedness of individual and collective experience; client/therapist and patient/doctor relationships issues including transference and counter transference and multiple role relationship issues; inquiry into using the process work model in medical, movement and bodywork applications.
