Cultivating Fairness and Inclusive Opportunity
At the Process Work Institute, we are dedicated to cultivating an environment where every individual feels welcome, respected, and empowered to flourish. We believe that a vibrant and thriving community is built on the principles of fairness, mutual understanding, and equitable opportunity for all.
We offer our respect to the elders, both past and present, who have stewarded the land and indigenous knowledge and practices for generations. We acknowledge the land where we are privileged to be based, now called Portland, Oregon in Multnomah County, as the traditional lands of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla, Wasco, Cowlitz and Watlala, and other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River.
Our organization is dedicated to actively identifying and transforming practices that might inadvertently create barriers or limit opportunities for any individual. We recognize the profound impact that historical and systemic factors can have on individuals and communities, and we are committed to promoting equitable outcomes for all. We understand that true inclusion means acknowledging the intersectionality of various forms of social experience and honoring the complexity of each person’s unique journey.
We offer Processwork tools, ideas, and practices as a contribution to the vital work of social change, in the hope of co-creating a world where everyone feels welcome and able to flourish. We seek to use awareness to facilitate the emergence of stronger community, even from difficult conflicts, by thoughtfully addressing the impacts of past and present injustices. We practice awareness-based facilitation with the intention that our differences can become a source of joy, excitement, and creativity, and that we find the common ground of shared humanity. This work is not always easy or fast; it requires serious commitment and a dedication to the practice of awareness and a tolerance for the discomfort that can arise when expanding our perspectives. Processwork seeks to address not only the factual impacts of social differences but also the emotional, subjective, and subtle levels of our experience.
We strive to ensure that our policies and practices advance fairness and opportunity for all people, so that we can collectively benefit from the richness and creativity of a diverse community. We recognize that historical and present-day factors continue to shape the experiences of many, and we are committed to fostering an environment where every individual has the support and resources to reach their full potential. This is not easy work, but we are dedicated to it.
